We will stand in the quiet, sacred spaces of Garland Farm—the final home, garden, and library of legendary landscape architect Beatrix Farrand—breathing in the very air that inspired American landscape genius. You’ll have the opportunity to chase the sunlight into local butterfly gardens, full of milkweed and humming with life and delicate wings. We will explore the iconic Old Stone Barn Farm, where historic architecture meets generations of coastal farming. At the Peggy Rockefeller Farm you will see sheep grazing against a rural island backdrop, experiencing a vital piece of the island's working landscape. You can step back in time at an old blueberry farm to learn about Maine's native wild crop, and if you’re here in mid July to mid August you can harvest! Visit Beech Hill Farm to witness vibrant, modern organic food production in action and check out their farm market! Your tour guide is flexible and options are plentiful.
