Spilimbergo and the Friuli Mosaic School: a tour of the "city of mosaics"｜Italy

The suggested itinerary includes a visit to the Friuli Mosaic School, followed by a tour of the historic center. However, when choosing your experience, there are 3 possible itineraries, depending on your time and preferences: 1) SMF + historic center; 2) SMF only; 3) historic center only.

Itinerary 1) includes a visit to the Friuli Mosaic School, a world-renowned center for training professionals and promoting the art of mosaic. Over 800 works will take us on a journey through the ancient and the contemporary, to discover mosaic culture. We'll then head to the historic center of Spilimbergo for a pleasant stroll to discover the village: the elegant frescoes of the historic palaces such as Palazzo Monaco, Palazzo Ercole and Palazzo di Sopra, the viewpoint over the Tagliamento and the Prealps where, on clear days, we can scan the horizon for the peaks of Slovenia. We'll then head to the beating heart of medieval Spilimbergo, Piazza Duomo, where you'll find Palazzo La Loggia, Palazzo del Daziario, and just beyond the Castle, the residence of the Spengenbergs, a noble family of Carinthian origin. We'll wrap up the visit in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, the city's artistic jewel.
