Saturnia is a famous spa destination already known by the Romans who built a settlement in order to accommodate all the people sent there by the Cerusici (doctors). The healing properties of these waters were already well exploited by the Romans. What is less known, however, is that this area was already appreciated and used during the Etruscan period. These people had an enormous respect for volcanic phenomenas, seen as an expression of some deities.

I will take you to the top of an hill where it lays a roman water cistern known as Castellum Acquarum from which you will be able to see an incredible sightseeing that stretches from the mountain to the sea. You will discover the secrets of the ancient Aurinia (Saturnia), and enjoy the beneficial effects of the healing waters of this place which has continued to fascinate humanity for over 2500 years.
