As you move through central Dublin, trace the Rising in chronological order, explaining how the insurgents mobilized, seized strategic positions, and declared an Irish Republic.

Stop along the route to highlight the roles played by the Irish Volunteers, the Citizen Army, and ordinary Dubliners caught in the conflict. Learn how the fighting spread through the city, how British forces responded, and how public opinion shifted dramatically in the aftermath.

Visit City Hall, where you’ll learn about the civic administration of Dublin at the time, the planning and strategic significance of nearby streets, and how municipal politics intersected with the revolutionary events.

Conclude on O’Connell Street, outside the General Post Office, the headquarters of the Rising and symbol of Irish resistance.
