Starting in the historic heart of Bruges, ride past some of the city's most remarkable sights, including the majestic Burg Square, the atmospheric Old Harbor, charming almshouses, and the unique Jerusalem Chapel, one of Bruges' best-kept secrets. From there, follow the medieval ramparts and iconic windmills as the vibrant city gradually gives way to the tranquility of the Flemish countryside.
Cycle along picturesque canals, open fields, and timeless landscapes. Continue your journey deeper into the breathtaking polder landscape, passing winding waterways, rows of trees, grazing cows, and colorful wildflowers.
Once in Damme, we’ll uncover the stories of this fascinating little town, once one of the most important gateways to the world and the outer port of Bruges. We’ll visit the historic town centre, discover the old herring market and town hall, and, if opening hours allow, climb the church tower for a spectacular view across the town and surrounding polders.
And there’s something extra special for us: our grandfather lived and worked in Damme as a sculptor, and we’re incredibly proud to share the stories behind two of his legendary figures with you.
Along the way, we’ll take a well-deserved break, enjoying an offered drink and some tapas in the peaceful countryside. It’s a chance to sit back, recharge and enjoy the landscape at a slower pace before continuing our adventure.
