Want to learn about ceramics in a lively and friendly place? At Coffee Arts Paris, a hybrid studio combining a specialty coffee shop and a ceramic workshop, discover the art of throwing on the wheel during a 1-hour session supervised by a master ceramicist. Suitable for both beginners and enthusiasts, this workshop takes place in a small group of no more than 6 participants, for attentive and personalized guidance.
As soon as you arrive, you will be welcomed into a space dedicated to creation, in the heart of Paris' 3rd arrondissement. You will learn about the material, the tools, and the different steps of making a clay piece, in a pressure-free atmosphere where the pleasure of creating takes precedence over performance.
The workshop begins with an introduction to the potter's wheel and the essential techniques for working with clay. You then learn how to prepare your clay before sitting at the wheel to make your own creation. Guided step by step by your ceramic craftsman, you will gradually discover the techniques of centering, raising the clay, and shaping, in order to create a unique piece according to your wishes.
Throughout the session, you will experience the sensations of throwing in a truly relaxing and creative moment. You leave with the satisfaction of having shaped your first ceramic piece yourself, and with all the know-how to collect your creation once it has been dried, glazed, and fired.
At the end of the workshop, your piece goes through several stages of drying and then firing in the ceramicist's kiln, in order to become durable and suitable for contact with food. Once fired, it can be used on a daily basis as a true handmade, artisanal object.
You can generally expect to wait 2 weeks before being able to collect your piece, which is the time needed for drying, firing and glazing.
Would you like to take your creation home with you at the end of the workshop? It's possible! However, please note that in this case, the piece will not have undergone the full firing process and will therefore be for decorative purposes only, and not suitable for food use.
An experience to enjoy alone, with friends, or with family, leaving you with much more than a souvenir: a unique creation, shaped by your own hands.
