Begin your tour at the Makars Mushroom Farm, located in a disused underground basement of an arts venue in Edinburgh. Learn about the fascinating world of fungi, a third branch in evolution that could provide nutritious food with the benefits of both meat and plants.

Discover the process of growing Lion’s Mane mushrooms, from grain production to incubation and fruiting. See the sterile conditions and techniques required to grow these exotic mushrooms reliably.

Visit the fruiting tents and learn how to monitor factors like oxygen, water, and nutrients to ensure a successful crop. Discuss what to look for in the mushroom crop before harvest.
