Giới thiệu sản phẩm

The Lim Fjord is the one landscape in Istria that everybody photographs from the road above and almost nobody sees properly. This trip takes you into it — by sea, on a private speedboat, from Poreč harbour.

Lim is not really a fjord but a drowned river valley: a narrow inlet running roughly 11 kilometres inland, with limestone walls rising up to a hundred metres on either side. It has been a protected landscape since 1964, and the calm, nutrient-rich water at its head has made it one of Croatia's best-known oyster and mussel farms. You pass the floating lines on the way in.

Above the northern wall sits the Pirate Cave — the largest of the caves along the bay, and one you can only reach from the water. Local legend ties it to Henry Morgan, the 17th-century privateer said to have sheltered here and buried his treasure somewhere inland near Dvigrad. Whether or not Morgan ever saw Istria, the view from the cave mouth explains the story: anyone watching for approaching ships could see the entire length of the bay from up there.

Because this is a private speedboat for a maximum of 8 guests, you are not on a fixed timetable at the cave. There is time to climb up, look out over the canal and take photographs without a queue forming behind you.

We then head back toward open water for the snorkelling. Depending on the sea that day, your skipper picks one or two spots along the coast near Vrsar, where the water is clear and the seabed drops from sand to rock within a few metres. Masks, snorkels and fins are provided on board, and there is real time in the water rather than a five-minute dip. Cold soft drinks are available throughout.

On the way home you get the panorama of Vrsar from the sea — the old town stacked up its hill, the bell tower on top and the islets scattered in front of it.

The trip lasts three hours, with departures at 09:00 and 12:30. Bring swimwear, a towel, sun protection and shoes you can walk up steps in.
