Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Lake Langano – Hawassa
Start your journey with pickup from your hotel or Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and drive south through the scenic Ethiopian highlands and Great Rift Valley.
Stop at Lake Langano, one of Ethiopia’s most beautiful Rift Valley lakes, known for its peaceful setting and reddish-brown waters. Enjoy time to stretch, take photos, and admire the natural scenery.
Continue to Hawassa, the capital of the Sidama Region, beautifully located on the shores of Lake Hawassa. The city is known for its relaxed atmosphere, lakeside views, fish market culture, and pleasant climate.
After check-in at your hotel, enjoy free time to relax. Depending on arrival time, take an optional walk along the lakefront or visit the local fish market area for sunset and local life experiences.
Day 2: Hawassa – Sidama Coffee Farms Tour – Hawassa
After breakfast, depart for a full-day coffee experience in the lush Sidama highlands around Yirgalem / Aleta Wondo, one of Ethiopia’s most famous coffee-growing regions.
Drive through green hills, village settlements, enset farms, and shaded coffee landscapes while learning about Ethiopia’s role as the birthplace of Arabica coffee.
Visit a local coffee farm and walk through the plantation-style garden coffee area. Learn how coffee is grown, harvested, and prepared by smallholder farmers. Depending on the season, you may observe picking, sorting, or drying activities.
Continue to a nearby coffee processing area or washing station to understand the stages of coffee production, including washing, fermentation, drying, roasting, and grading.
Later, enjoy a traditional lunch before experiencing an authentic Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Watch green beans being roasted, ground, and brewed in a traditional jebena, then taste fresh Sidama coffee in its place of origin.
In the afternoon, return to Hawassa for overnight.
Day 3: Hawassa – Shashemene – Ziway – Addis Ababa
After breakfast, drive north to Shashemene, home to Ethiopia’s well-known Rastafarian community.
Visit the community and learn about its unique history, cultural identity, music, beliefs, and connection to Emperor Haile Selassie I and Pan-African heritage.
Continue to Lake Ziway, a scenic Rift Valley lake known for birdlife, fishing activity, and peaceful views. Enjoy time for photos and relaxation before continuing to Addis Ababa.
In the evening, enjoy a special farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant. After dinner, transfer to your hotel or Addis Ababa Bole International Airport for drop-off.
