Embark on an unforgettable full-day safari in Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savanna park, home to the Big Five and stunning landscapes. This adventure offers a chance to experience diverse wildlife, breathtaking scenery, and a taste of Rwanda’s rich conservation success story—all in a single day.

Itinerary:
Early Morning: Departure & Arrival
5:30 AM: Pick-up from Kigali and scenic 2.5-hour drive to Akagera.
Enjoy a sunrise over rolling hills as you head east towards the park.
Arrive at Akagera’s southern entrance, where your expert guide briefs you on the day’s adventure.
Morning Safari Drive (Big Five Encounter)
Enter the park and begin the game drive, exploring acacia woodlands, savanna plains, and wetlands.
Spot elephants, buffalos, giraffes, antelopes, and zebras grazing in the morning light.
If lucky, catch sight of lions basking or leopards on a stealthy morning hunt.
Drive along the scenic Lake Ihema, home to hippos and basking crocodiles.
️ Midday: Bush Picnic with a View
Stop at a designated picnic site for a packed bush lunch with panoramic views of Akagera’s vast landscape.
Listen to the sounds of nature while enjoying your meal.
Afternoon: Northern Plains & Predator Territory
Continue the safari towards Akagera’s northern sector, known for its highest predator density.
Keep an eye out for hyenas, jackals, and elusive leopards.
Experience herds of topis, elands, and warthogs roaming freely.
Scenic Stops & Departure
Capture stunning photos at Kilala Plains, one of the best wildlife viewing spots.
Slowly exit the park, taking in the last glimpses of giraffes against the sunset.
Evening: Return to Kigali
5:00 PM: Exit Akagera and begin the journey back to Kigali.
7:30 PM: Drop-off at your hotel with incredible safari memories.
