The biggest highlight of the Leshan Giant Buddha is its enormous scale. There were very few visitors at the site yesterday, so my advance planning really paid off. Visiting after China's major holidays is a great way to avoid the crowds. This place is perfect for fans of stone carving art. Aside from the main Buddha statue, there are also temples, stone tablets (though I couldn't read them, haha), and monks—all of which are fascinating. It really felt like spending a whole day just for this was totally worth it. I had originally wanted to see it again by boat, but I gave up because it was raining.
