Oaxaca: Monte Albán, Alebrijes, Cuilapan, and Black Clay

Discover in a single day the history, traditions, and art that make Oaxaca a unique destination.

Let yourself be carried away by a route that connects the pre-Hispanic past with the traditions that are still alive in the communities of Oaxaca. We'll start by traveling to Monte Albán, one of the most impressive ancient cities in Mesoamerica, where you'll learn about the history of the Zapotec civilization as you explore its plazas, temples, and ancient ceremonial spaces.

After that, we'll enter the world of wooden alebrijes in San Antonio Arrazola. You'll learn about this Oaxacan craft tradition up close, discover how these colorful figures are made, and have the opportunity to admire the work of local artisans.

We'll continue to Cuilápam de Guerrero, where you'll discover the impressive architecture of its old Dominican complex and learn about some of the historical events that shaped this region during the colonial era.

Our last stop will be San Bartolo Coyotepec, renowned worldwide for its traditional black clay pottery. You'll learn about the artisanal process and discover how a technique passed down from generation to generation has become one of Oaxaca's most iconic symbols.
