Guided Tour of the Verona Arena: from Gladiators to Opera (fast access)｜Italy

The Arena of Verona is not only one of the most famous monuments in Italy: it is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in northern Italy and one of the city's great historical and cultural symbols.

On this guided visit, we will discover when it was created, how it was built by the Romans, and what role it played in the ancient urban context of Verona. But we will also delve into the most vibrant and spectacular heart of its history: what events took place within it? Who were the gladiators really? Did they only fight each other or also against wild animals? And what did these shows represent for Roman society?

Through stories, fun facts, and insights, the tour will lead us to understand the Arena not only as a monument, but as a place of power, identity, and show. From the fights of antiquity to the great opera seasons, we will retrace the transformation of an extraordinary building that, over the centuries, has continued to be the scenic heart of Verona.

An ideal route to discover the Arena with new eyes, among Roman history, city life, gladiatorial myths, and collective memory.
