Begin your day with a hotel pickup in Rovaniemi or head directly to the Lapland Royal Adventures office. At the office, get high-quality professional winter clothing and warm boots. If you wish, you can also use warm overalls throughout the trip to stay comfortably warm in the Arctic conditions.
Next, embark on a scenic 2-hour drive through the wilderness of Lapland. During the journey, admire snowy forests, frozen lakes, and the peaceful beauty of northern nature. Your guide will share insights about the region's history, nature, and life north of the Arctic Circle.
Upon arrival at Riisitunturi National Park, begin a 4–4.5-kilometer hike along the park's most famous trails. The route winds through snowy forests, high viewpoints, and open landscapes, offering unforgettable views of the surrounding wilderness. During winter, the trail may be partially covered in snow, and depending on weather and snow conditions, snowshoes may be used to make the experience even more adventurous.
During the hike, your guide will lead you to the best photography spots and share information about Riisitunturi's nature, wildlife, and unique features. Learn about the massive snow loads that can weigh down the branches of a full-grown spruce with several tons of snow and ice. Your guide will also keep an eye out for possible animal tracks and explain how Arctic nature survives in harsh winter conditions.
To ensure lasting memories of the day, your guide will take high-quality photos of you and your group during the hike. You'll receive the photos after the trip at no extra cost.
Midway through the hike, take a long and relaxing break by a campfire in the midst of the park's stunning scenery. Here, enjoy an authentic Finnish wilderness atmosphere while warming up by the open fire.
During the break, enjoy grilled hot dogs, sausages, marshmallows, hot juice, cookies, and snacks. Your guide may also demonstrate traditional wilderness skills. Weather and conditions permitting, see how a fire can be lit in the traditional way using flint, steel, and natural materials without matches or a lighter. Feel free to ask your guide anything about Lapland, nature, wildlife, or life in the Arctic region.
Throughout the hike, enjoy a leisurely pace, allowing everyone time to take photos, admire the scenery, and savor the silence of nature. This is not a rushed mass tourist tour but a carefully planned nature experience in a small group.
The entire trip lasts approximately 8–9 hours, including transportation, hiking, a campfire break, and free time to admire the scenery. Return to Rovaniemi in the afternoon, around 5:00 PM, depending on weather and road conditions.
