Product Info

Step into the heart of the wild frontier and witness one of Europe’s most iconic predators in its natural habitat – the brown bear (Ursus Arctos). This unforgettable evening tour takes you deep into the untouched taiga forest of northern Finland to observe and photograph wild brown bears, eagles, and other wild creatures — from the comfort and safety of a professional wildlife hide. Bear Kuusamo is situated in the remote, natural habitat of the brown bears, on protected land.

With 20 years of experience from responsible bear watching, we ensure both ethical wildlife viewing and maximize the chances of bear sightings. The wildlife here is truly wild and free-roaming — sightings are 99% likely but not guaranteed. However, we have the Bear Guarantee: if you don’t see any, you can come back for free!

Bear Kuusamo's tour begins at the meeting point (parking area, which you can access with all cars and bikes). You’ll meet our guides, who will escort you safely to the viewing buildings via short forest paths. The walking distances are approx. 300–500 meters.

The tours are also suitable for children of all ages, and we have many buildings that can be booked for private use. Our main bear hide is also wheelchair accessible.

Professional bear guide will be with you at the hide and provide insightful information about the bears and the taiga environment during the evening. And when the tour ends, the guide will walk you safely back to the parking lot. The evening tour duration is 4 hours.

We offer seven cozy wooden hides, purposefully built and equipped for comfortable wildlife watching and professional nature photography.

Bear hides are equipped with:
• Photo openings, bean bags, and/or video/ball heads to support cameras
• Binoculars
• Large panoramic windows for uninterrupted views
• Close viewing access to a beautiful swamp pond, ideal for capturing stunning reflections in your wildlife shots
• Eco-friendly dry toilets
• Gas heaters
• Our main hide has also a gas cooker, and it is wheelchair-friendly
• Five hides have built-in beds with all beddings included for spending a comfortable night (we also provide overnight bear watching tours)

Why choose us?
• Over 20 years' experience in bear watching and photography tours
• Pioneer of responsible bear watching in Finland: We develop ethical guidelines for the whole industry, protect old forests and support local conservation projects
• Professional guides have deep knowledge of animal behavior and the taiga ecosystem
• Bears, white-tailed sea eagles, many wading birds, occasionally also other birds of prey – and with a bit of luck, a wolverine!
• The Bear Guarantee: We have a 99% chance of seeing the bears. However, if you don’t see any, you can come back for free!

We are open every day from May to September. The tour starts at 6 PM and ends at 10 PM. Later in the autumn, we start the tour earlier, as the amount of light decreases and the sunset time becomes earlier.
