Product Info

Valparaiso cannot be understood without its immigrants. This small-group walking tour (max. 8) follows the trail that Croats, Germans, and Englishmen left on the hills of Chile's first harbor, and concludes with included entry to the Museo del Inmigrante.

We start at Plaza Sotomayor, where your local guide will tell you how the harbor was born and why it attracted thousands of families from the other side of the world. From there, we'll take the historic El Peral funicular (ticket included), and you'll learn how it worked in its early years. At the top, the Paseo Yugoslavo and the Baburizza Palace await you, a mark of the Croatian community; the Pasaje Gálvez with its local shops; and the views from Paseo Gervasoni, from where you can see as far as Concón.

We continue along Paseo Atkinson, with its English heritage mansions, and visit the Lutheran and Anglican Churches, two key pieces of the German and English migrant legacy. The tour ends at the Immigrant Museum, an immersive experience with real testimonies from those who made Valparaíso their home. Includes a snack during the tour. Available in English and Spanish.
