Paleontological Sightseeing Tour, Secrets of Time on the Puchuncaví Coast.｜Chile

This route invites you to explore one of the most amazing geological landscapes
of the central coast: the geosites of
Puchuncaví and its strip of ancient marine fossils. This
experience allows you to understand the changes on the planet
through time, integrating science, conservation, and
natural wonder.
We begin our journey in the Founding
Fundacional de Concón, specifically at the
Copec, in front of the Concón Rotunda, to head
towards Puchuncaví. Our first stop
will be the Puchuncaví Museum, where
we'll have a guided tour with the
museum guides, who will show us the
local fossil exhibits and learn about the
scientific and cultural value of this commune.
We continue the adventure towards the cliffs.
Here we will be welcomed by the Fundación Acantilados de
Maitencillo, where guides from the foundation will
will take us on an experience full of culture,
education and environmental awareness
and our cultural identity, while at the same time
we will learn about the wonderful work of protection and
restoration they carry out in this area.
We continue towards the Cliffs of
Quirilluca, a geosite of incalculable paleontological
paleontological and geological value, with sediments from the
"Horcón Formation" that are more than 3 million
years old. Along the way, we will marvel
as we traverse a forest of native species.
Then we will continue our tour where
the sea reveals fossils and layers of ancient sediment
along beaches with prehistoric geological formations. We'll explore Playa Quirilluca and Playa La Luna until we reach Playa Larga and El Clarón in Horcón.
We'll finish with lunch in the cove of Horcón, enjoying the typical local cuisine, and we'll end with a visit to discover the
local handicrafts to take home a souvenir with
meaning.
