Product Info

Discover the beauty and layered history of Kampen on a relaxed guided walking tour with a local Hanseatic city expert. Stroll through one of the Netherlands’ best-preserved Hanseatic towns, set along the IJssel River, and uncover stories of trade, faith, and daily life that shaped this former maritime powerhouse.

Meet near the Koornmarktspoort, Kampen’s oldest remaining city gate, and step into the historic center. Your route winds through medieval streets, quiet alleyways, and tucked-away courtyards lined with old merchant houses. Along the way you’ll pass key landmarks such as the Bovenkerk (St. Nicholas Church), the Koornmarktspoort and Cellebroederspoort, the IJssel riverfront and harbor, and the Stadsbrug connecting both sides of the river. You’ll also see the Kamper Kogge (exterior), a reconstruction of a 14th-century Hanseatic trading ship, while learning about shipbuilding and the city’s trading network.

The walk is kept at a comfortable pace with time to pause for photos and questions. A coffee break at a cozy local café in the historic center is included, giving you a moment to relax and connect before continuing.

Finish back at the Koornmarktspoort with fresh context, practical local tips, and a deeper appreciation of Kampen beyond the usual sights.
