This three-day journey takes you deep into Iceland's most remote and rewarding corner. From Reykjavík, the route heads north into the Westfjords, where rugged coastlines, wide-open fjords, and landmarks like the rusted Garðar shipwreck and the towering seabird cliffs at Látrabjarg set the tone for what's ahead. Golden beaches at Breiðavík and the red-and-gold sands of Rauðisandur.
The interior days bring waterfalls, fjord views, and elevation. Dynjandi cascades down in wide, layered tiers through Fossfjörður valley, while the Bolafjall viewing platform puts you 636 m (2,086 ft) above the Arctic Ocean with nothing but cold, unbroken water ahead. Nights are spent in Ísafjörður, the Westfjords' main town of around 1,600 people, compact enough to explore on foot and framed on all sides by mountains and sea.
The return leg follows the Seven Fjords Route - one of Iceland's most scenic drives. We stop at the restored 19th-century fishing station at Ósvör, the Arctic Fox Center, and the Hvítanes seal colony before the road leads back to Reykjavík, with arrival between 4 and 7 PM.
