From Jökulsárlón: Crystal Blue Ice Cave Super Jeep Tour｜Iceland

Jump onboard a Super Jeep to witness one of the world’s rarest natural phenomena: a blue ice cave. Enjoy this fantastic winter experience in Vatnajökull National Park in Southern Iceland, departing from Jökulsárlón, the glacier lagoon. 

The tour starts at the famous Jökulsárlón - Glacier Lagoon. There you will jump on a Super Jeep that will take you up to the glacier. From there you will be able to walk inside one of the amazing Blue Ice Caves of Breiðamerkurjökull.

As you explore, your guide will translate the cave’s shapes: stretching walls, ancient compression bands, meltwater channels, and air bubbles trapped for centuries. Learn how seasonal shifts, volcanic activity, and the glacier’s slow flow created each ridge and hollow. These stories bring to life the intangible forces that sculpt Iceland’s most striking landscapes.

Standing inside an ancient glacier and witnessing the blue ice all around you is a truly unique experience. Photography is woven into the adventure. Your guide will select the best vantage points; they’ll help with camera tips (especially in low light) or even volunteer to take your group shot at the perfect icy frame. Expect 30–45 minutes inside the cave to absorb, pause, and capture.

After your subterranean journey, climb back to the surface and ride the jeep through sweeping landscapes. On the return to the lagoon, pause at vantage points for sweeping glacier views, dramatic icebergs, and reflections in glacial waters. You’ll arrive back at the starting point with a fresh sense of wonder and a camera filled with rare images.

We supply all essential glacier gear: crampons, helmets, gloves, and walking poles. You only need to bring sturdy hiking boots, thermal layers, a waterproof outer shell, and your camera (plus extra batteries). A light snack and water are recommended.
