Start your day with a private pickup from your hotel or designated meeting point in Reykjavík at 07:00. Travel south toward Landeyjahofn while enjoying scenic views along the way. Upon arrival, check in for your ferry to Heimaey, the largest of the Westman Islands, and relax as you cross the Atlantic waters with panoramic views of the islands and coastline.

Upon reaching Heimaey, your guide shares the story of the island’s geology, wildlife, and natural history. If you like, you can also add a boat tour along the dramatic cliffs and sea caves to see the birdlife up close, including puffins from May to mid-August. This private experience ensures minimal waiting and maximum enjoyment of the island’s highlights.

Visit the Eldheimar Volcano Museum to explore the story of the 1973 Eldfell eruption. See preserved homes and artifacts, and hear firsthand about the dramatic events that shaped the island and its community. Following the museum visit, enjoy a pre-reserved lunch in Heimaey, giving you time to relax and savor Icelandic cuisine before the afternoon adventure.

In the afternoon, take a short hike up Eldfell volcano to iconic viewpoints over the island and surrounding waters. Capture breathtaking panoramic views and learn about the volcano’s history and impact. Continue with a scenic drive around the island, visiting puffin nesting areas and other seasonal viewpoints (May–mid August only), offering an up-close experience of Icelandic wildlife in its natural habitat.

After a full day of adventure, take the ferry back to Landeyjahofn and enjoy the scenic return journey. Your private guide will then transfer you back to Reykjavík, arriving between 20:30 and 21:00.
