Lyon is the world capital of trompe-l'œil: nearly 100 monumental frescoes cover its walls, most of them by the Lyon muralists of Cité Création. The problem? They are scattered across the hills and neighborhoods, impossible to connect on foot. This is exactly where the electric bike changes everything.
Starting from the center, I'll first take you to Croix-Rousse, the ancient hill of the Canuts, the silk weavers who made Lyon's fortune. The electric assistance makes the climb effortless: we arrive fresh in front of the Mur des Canuts, about 1,200 m² of mural painting, the largest in Europe, where an entire neighborhood comes to life on a simple facade. We then head to Les Pentes, among old silk workshops, stairways, and hidden frescoes.
We go back down to the Fresque des Lyonnais and its 30 famous figures, including the Lumière brothers, Paul Bocuse, Saint-Exupéry, and Ampère, before a coffee or ice cream break at an artisan's shop in La Croix-Rousse. We finish with contemporary street art, collages, graffiti, and stencils, where today's urban art meets the great murals of yesterday.
Small group of 6 to 8 people maximum, e-bike and helmet provided. And because these walls are made for photography, I capture the group at each stop and send you the gallery after the outing: you leave with your souvenirs.
