From Bordeaux: Dune of Pilat and Bay of Arcachon - Private Tour｜France

We will depart at 9:30 a.m. directly from your hotel or apartment in Bordeaux. It's just your group (up to 4 people); it's not a shared tour. During the journey, you'll have the opportunity to get to know each other, and I'll tell you many local anecdotes about the region.

First stop (about a 50-minute drive): the highlight of your day, the Dune of Pilat. We'll climb up together along a small natural trail known to locals, away from the crowds (we'll climb up through the sand, not on stairs). At the top: landscapes worthy of the Sahara and a 360° view of the ocean, Landes Forest, the sandbanks, Cap Ferret peninsula, and of course the inland sea of the Arcachon basin. I'll tell you about the history of the Dune, its nature and its legends. I'll show you the Dune as only the locals really know it.

Then, on the way to the harbor, we pass through typical residential neighborhoods with beautiful Belle Époque villas nestled among the pine trees. This is an opportunity to tell you the fascinating (and original) history of Arcachon and the Bassin, an ideal tourist resort as dreamed of in the 19th century.

Then, we head to a typical oyster harbor in the Bay of Arcachon. We'll walk among the wooden huts, and I'll explain how oysters are raised here – a fascinating tradition that's as important as wine in Bordeaux.

You then have free time, a good hour to stroll around the harbor and have lunch at your leisure (not included) by the water: oysters, shrimp or pâté, with a glass of white or rosé wine (or water from the local Abatilles spring). Peaceful setting, views of the bay, local atmosphere. You choose the place you like best for lunch; there is no set menu or required location, and your live guide is there to advise you if you wish.

We return to your accommodation in Bordeaux around 2:30 PM. This is a 100% private tour, for up to 4 people maximum, which we adapt to your pace and your wishes.
