Product Info

Spend a day fly fishing with guides on a river that offers some of the most rewarding freshwater fly fishing in Southern Africa. Learn about the Vaal River, its Yellowfish, and fly fishing.

Drive to the venue (approx. 1 – 1 ½ hours from Joburg depending on venue selected). On arrival at the resort, the guide will cover the techniques and terminal tackle set up (this will be determined according to the angler's skill level).

Enjoy a morning fishing session from 7 AM – 12 PM. Head to shore for a short break and discuss the afternoon fishing session. Afternoon fishing session from 1 PM – 4 PM.

Learn about the flow, currents, and temperature related to fly fishing for Yellowfish. Discover fish location pertaining to flow, currents, and temperature. Learn about entomology and Yellowfish feeding patterns.

Get tips on fly selection, leader length, and strike indicator positioning. Practice casting at Yellowfish and attaining ‘dead drift’ and correct depth. Learn about the strike, fighting, and landing Yellowfish and releasing the fish.
