Product Info
- This is a traditional Japanese indigo dyeing experience on Nokonoshima Island, Fukuoka. While dyeing fabric on an island surrounded by nature, you can enjoy the unique color changes of indigo and the fun of handiwork. The highlight of this experience is the moment the fabric taken out of the indigo vat changes from a dark emerald green to indigo blue. The patterns change depending on how you fold and tie the fabric, so no two works are the same. Do not look for a right answer, and feel free to create your own unique piece. We will provide 2 tenugui towels per person for dyeing. Rubber gloves and disposable raincoats are also provided, so you can participate without bringing your own fabric or tools. You can take the finished tenugui towels home on the same day. Even beginners will be guided through the steps by the instructor in an easy-to-understand manner. We welcome overseas guests, those interested in Japanese culture, and families with children aged 10 and over. Let's enjoy the nature of Nokonoshima and the time spent indigo dyeing together. ~Experience Flow~ 9:00 Reception and introduction to the experience We will explain the flow of the day and points to enjoy indigo dyeing. 9:20 Fold the fabric and create patterns Think of your own unique pattern by folding and tying the tenugui. 10:00 Dye with indigo Lift the fabric from the indigo vat and enjoy watching it change from green to blue up close. We can also help you take photos at the moment the color changes if you wish. 11:00 Untie the knots and see your work An emotional moment to unfold the fabric and see what kind of pattern you have created. 12:15 Take your work home We will hand over the 2 color-fixed tenugui towels in a zipper storage bag. Since the work is still damp, please take it out of the bag and dry it as soon as you get home.

Questions at the time of booking:
- Question 1: Please provide the ages of all participants. The age range is 10 to 80 years old.
- Question 2: Please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty, as there is a possibility of indigo stains. Disposable raincoats (top and bottom) and rubber gloves will be provided. Have you confirmed this?
- Question 3: If you require guidance in a language other than Japanese, please let us know your preferred language. We will provide English instructions, and the workshop will be conducted primarily in Japanese, with the use of a translation app on your smartphone as needed.
- Question 4: It is about a 10-minute walk from the Nokonoshima Ferry Terminal to the venue. There is no shuttle service. If you have concerns about walking, please let us know.
Regarding cancellation:
- The event will be held in normal rain. However, it will be cancelled in case of bad weather that causes the Nokonoshima ferry to be suspended, if there is a risk that the return ferry will be suspended, or if it is difficult to hold the event safely due to heavy rain, strong winds, or lightning. It may also be cancelled if the instructor is unwell or if the minimum of 2 participants is not met. We will contact you as soon as possible if a cancellation is decided. No cancellation fee will be charged if the cancellation is decided by the organizer.
Notes for participating in the course:
- ・If you are going to be late for the meeting time, please contact us as soon as you know. If you are late, you may not be able to participate in part of the experience. ・Elementary and junior high school students must be accompanied by a guardian. ・Cars cannot be driven to the venue.
Other special notes:
- The basic fee includes 2 tenugui towels for dyeing. T-shirts, mini bags, etc., are also sold on-site. If you bring your own fabric, an additional fee will be charged based on the weight. If you wish to do so, please let us know the type and size of the fabric in advance. Color fixing is performed during the experience, but the color will fade during the first few washes. Please wash separately from other clothing. Since the works will not be completely dry, we will provide them in a zipper storage bag. Please take them out of the bag and dry them as soon as you get home.

・For those coming by car:
Please set your car navigation to 'Fukuoka City Ferry Meinohama Passenger Waiting Area' (3-1-1 Atagohama, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City). Park your car in the paid parking lot next to the ferry terminal (510 yen per time) and board the ferry to Nokonoshima Island.
・For those coming by train:
Get off at 'Meinohama Station' on the Subway Airport Line. From the south exit, take the Nishitetsu Bus No. 98 and get off at the final stop, 'Noko Ferry Terminal'. Board the ferry to Nokonoshima Island from the Meinohama Ferry Terminal right in front of you.
The ferry ride takes about 10 minutes. It is about a 10-minute walk from the Nokonoshima Ferry Terminal to the venue, 'STYDE NOKO' (192-8 Noko, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City).
・For those coming by other means:
We recommend taking the 8:15 ferry from Meinohama to arrive in time for the start. The experience is scheduled to end at 12:15. The 13:00 ferry from Noko is a good guideline for your return. Please allow plenty of time for transfers and purchasing ferry tickets. Ferry timetable and fares: Please check the official guide of the Fukuoka City Ferry.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations 2 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
- For cancellations made 1 to 1 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 50% will apply
- Cancellation is not allowed between 0–0 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
- Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
