Product Info

A workshop where you can create and take home your very own interior bonsai. The venue is located in Katsura, close to the central Kyoto district of Karasuma and the tourist destination of Arashiyama. No prior bonsai knowledge is required; we will gently teach you everything from the basics of bonsai to how to create your own interior bonsai. Using a vessel by a contemporary ceramic artist as a base, you will create your own unique Kyoto landscape using materials such as dried natural wood, stones, moss, and sand. The navigator for this workshop is a professional gardener who has worked on numerous gardens in Kyoto. Based on how to view and create landscapes, we will help you incorporate these elements into your interior bonsai. Interior bonsai adapts the philosophy of traditional bonsai to a modern lifestyle. The workshop venue is not a traditional Japanese room. It takes place in a modern space where beauty, detail, and design are part of daily life—a Kyoto hair salon. Using a vessel by contemporary ceramic artist 'Akira Yamada' as a base
A ceramic artist from Kyoto Prefecture. He uses the traditional Japanese color 'Shojo-hi' (a vivid scarlet) as his signature color, and its deep, clear red leaves a strong impression on the viewer. His works are housed in the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art, and the vessels themselves are highly valuable. Please create your interior bonsai using a vessel that breathes life into your daily life through a design that fuses tradition and modernity.
The navigator is a traditional gardener who has shaped the scenery of Kyoto
The interior bonsai workshop is navigated by Kyoto-based gardener Yoshitomo Ando. In addition to creating famous Japanese gardens, museums, and traditional townhouse gardens, he has been involved in the restoration of gardens designated as cultural properties for many years. He is also highly knowledgeable about bonsai. He will assist you in creating your 'interior bonsai'.
