Caño Negro is one of Costa Rica’s most important natural treasures – an internationally protected RAMSAR Wetland of Global Importance, recognized for its extraordinary biodiversity and ecosystem value. This vast mosaic of lagoons, flooded forests, and winding waterways is a sanctuary for wildlife, home to hundreds of bird species, rare reptiles, exotic mammals, and countless aquatic forms of life. During your stay, you’ll immerse yourself in one of the most pristine and untouched environments in the country, where every sunrise reveals mist-covered wetlands and every afternoon brings new wildlife sightings. Caño Negro is peaceful, remote, and deeply authentic – perfect for travelers seeking nature, conservation, and meaningful experiences.
