A rather unusual phenomenon awaits you - active mud volcanoes. We will visit Yanardag Mountain - a mountain that has been burning for several centuries. Baku is a modern dynamic metropolis. However, the heart of Baku is the Old City, where it sometimes seems that time has stopped running. During our excursion, we will definitely plunge into its amazing atmosphere. Baku can be safely called the “City of Contrasts”, like the city in the well-known film “The Diamond Arm”. This film was filmed in “Icheri Sheher” - that is, in the old city. And by the way, not only this film.
An exciting excursion will start from the Gobustan reserve. You will visit a modern interactive museum of the park in the village of Gobustan, where you will find superbly selected expositions using the most modern technology that will help you. You will find out the meaning of petroglyphs (rock paintings). You will be able to see rock paintings that will tell you about the culture, economy, customs of people living in different periods of history on this territory, starting from the 15th millennium BC. up to the Middle Ages. Once the sea splashed right at the foot of these mountains, but then retreated, leaving characteristic relief traces on the polished rocks. Also found here are ancient primitive dwellings - caves and sites. In the 1st century, the XII legion of the Roman emperor Domitian visited the territory of Gobustan, as evidenced by the rock inscription in Latin on the Boyukdash mountain. There are mud volcanoes not far from the Gobustan reserve. Martian landscapes and many active mud volcanoes await you. The largest number of mud volcanoes in the world is concentrated in the territory of Azerbaijan, about 60%. Sometimes these volcanoes create small islands in the Caspian. However, these volcanoes are completely safe. In the largest of them, the host of the program “Heads and Tails” even took mud baths. On the way back, lunch at a fish restaurant is possible. Here you can order fish from the Caspian Sea. It is caught in a nearby coastal village. We will visit the Bibi-Heybat mosque. You will learn about the unusual history of the creation of this mosque, which for several centuries was considered one of the main saints of the Islamic world. We stand at the world's first oil well, from which the world industrial oil production began. This event took place in Baku already in 1848.As a bonus, if you wish, you can visit the oriental bazaar, where you can buy various sweets, dried fruits, nuts, spices and even natural black caviar, having tasted all this in advance while drinking natural Lankaran tea.
