Experience one of the world's most unique whale-watching opportunities at El Doradillo Natural Protected Area, where Southern Right Whales approach within meters of the shore during breeding season.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Start with convenient pickup from your Puerto Madryn accommodation and travel to El Doradillo, a stunning 25km coastal protected area stretching from Punta Arco to Cerro Prismático. Upon arrival, enjoy complimentary hot drinks (tea, mate, or coffee) with snacks while settling into this pristine natural environment.

From June to October, witness Southern Right Whales (Eubalaena australis) in the calm, shallow waters of Golfo Nuevo as they reproduce and nurse their calves. The unique coastal slope allows these magnificent creatures to approach incredibly close to shore—especially during high tide—creating an unparalleled viewing experience without boats.

COASTAL WALK

An approximately 1km interpretive walk along sandy beaches and coastal trails. Learn about whale behavior, life cycles, and their crucial role in the marine ecosystem while observing from strategically placed viewpoints and observatories along the coast.
