Product Info

Reach Laguna de los Tres, the closest viewpoint accessible on foot to the legendary Mount Fitz Roy in Los Glaciares National Park. This full-day adventure from El Calafate combines one of Patagonia’s most iconic hikes with spectacular mountain landscapes, native forests, glaciers, and unforgettable panoramic views.

Your day begins with hotel pickup in El Calafate, followed by a scenic drive along the famous Route 40 across the vast Patagonian steppe. As you approach El Chaltén, the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Fitz Roy and its granite spires gradually comes into view.

Upon arrival at the Río Eléctrico trailhead, a certified bilingual mountain guide leads the group along one of the most spectacular trekking routes in Argentine Patagonia. The trail passes through native lenga forests, mountain streams, and the Piedras Blancas Glacier viewpoint before reaching the final steep ascent to Laguna de los Tres.

The reward is extraordinary: breathtaking views of Mount Fitz Roy, the hanging glaciers, and the turquoise waters of Laguna de los Tres. Here you will have time to rest, enjoy your boxed lunch, and take photographs from one of the most iconic viewpoints in South America.

For travelers seeking a less demanding experience, the route offers an alternative option to Laguna Capri, where equally impressive views can be enjoyed before rejoining the main group for the return hike.

The trekking portion of the excursion lasts approximately 9 hours and covers around 24 km (15 mi), with an accumulated elevation gain of approximately 1,500 m (4,920 ft). The total activity duration is approximately 16 hours, including round-trip transportation between El Calafate and the trailhead.

This demanding adventure is recommended for travelers in good physical condition looking for an authentic Patagonian trekking experience. A certified bilingual guide, boxed lunch, insurance, and round-trip shared transportation are included.

Whether you are an experienced hiker or simply looking to experience Patagonia’s most iconic landscape, Laguna de los Tres offers a truly unforgettable day beneath the magnificent towers of Mount Fitz Roy.

Important
All participants begin the trek together from the Río Eléctrico Trailhead. Upon reaching the Campamento Base Poincenot area, the group may split depending on each participant's physical condition, hiking pace, and the day's weather and trail conditions.

Those who are fit to continue will make the final ascent to Laguna de los Tres, the most demanding section of the trek and the closest viewpoint to Mount Fitz Roy.

Passengers who choose not to complete the final ascent, or for whom the guide considers it unsafe or not advisable to continue, will continue with a second guide to Laguna Capri, a beautiful and less demanding alternative offering spectacular views of the Fitz Roy massif.

Both options are part of the same excursion and are fully guided by certified trekking guides.
