Product Info

Departing from Belgrade at 08:30 AM, we drive through gentle landscapes unfolds until the Danube appears, transformed from the river known in the city.

Upon entering the Đerdap Gorge, the river’s breadth feels oceanic at 6.5 km wide!

Not far from there, we enter the town of Golubac, with its magnificent Golubac Fortress!

Golubac Fortress, perched on the Danube at the Đerdap Gorge’s gateway, represents a remarkable blend of natural beauty and strategic military architecture.

Over the centuries, its imposing structure and formidable defensive towers have played a crucial role in controlling the vital trade route along the Danube, making it a linchpin of regional power dynamics.

The confluence of history, architecture, and strategic significance at Golubac Fortress offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, where the forces of nature and human endeavor converge.

During our stay at this marvelous fortress, you’ll get to enjoy Golubac museum exhibitions, and medieval displays, but also rest your eyes on the famous “Panonian Sea“.

Half an hour’s drive brings us opposite the striking Treskavac rock, believed to have influenced nomadic hunters to settle and form the permanent Mesolithic settlement of Lepenski Vir.

Step back over ten millennia and enter the world of the Mesolithic people at Lepenski Vir, where the remnants of trapezoidal houses with central hearths tell tales of prehistoric daily life.

These ancient structures, alongside the discovery of domesticated dogs, suggest a sophisticated society where animals were not merely companions but vital to the survival and success of hunts.

Within the heart of the Lepenski Vir tour, you’ll get to see enigmatic sculptures like the Great Mother, Adam, and Danubius stand as silent sentinels of a civilization’s complex spiritual plain.

These masterpieces, striking in their depiction of human and possibly divine figures, offer glimpses into the minds and beliefs of their creators.

With burial practices that honor the deceased in seated postures beneath the floors of their homes, the Lepenski Vir community reveals a deep reverence for the afterlife, embedding their culture’s values and mysteries into the fabric of time.

This ancient cultural heritage site, flourishing until the dawn of the 7th millennium, continues to captivate and intrigue us even today.

As we bid farewell to the ancient marvels of Lepenski Vir, our adventure leads us to the breathtaking Kapetan Mišin’s Peak.

Here, against a backdrop of the Danube’s expansive waters and the embracing mountains, we pause for a moment of reflection and enjoy the sights.

With hearts and minds full of the day’s discoveries, we journey back through the landscapes that cradled civilizations, returning to Belgrade in the late afternoon.

Golubac Fortress & Lepenski Vir tour is an invitation to walk through history’s echoes and nature’s wonders. So, join us on this archaeological tour and carve a slice of timelessness into your journey!
