Enjoy an unforgettable experience exploring the contrasts of Panama City: modernity, history, culture, and one of the greatest wonders of global engineering. Once everyone has been picked up, we'll start our tour of the modern city, admiring panoramic views of its skyscrapers, coastal avenues, and the vibrant urban atmosphere that characterizes the Panamanian capital.
Our first major experience will be at the Miraflores Visitor Center, where you'll learn how the iconic Panama Canal works. You'll watch a 45-minute documentary that tells the story of its construction and evolution, explore interactive exhibits, and go up to the panoramic terrace to get a close-up look at the impressive lock system. With a bit of luck, you'll be able to see a ship passing through in real time.
It's important to remember that the passage of ships cannot be guaranteed, as the schedules are managed exclusively by the Panama Canal Authority.
We'll then head to a local handicraft market, where you can admire handmade products, traditional art, and unique souvenirs that reflect the creativity of Panamanian artisans. We will then visit the historic Canal Administration Building, built in 1914 in the Italian Renaissance style. Its "E"-shaped design, murals, marble floors, and iconic pink marble staircase make it a true architectural treasure that honors the history of the Canal.
Next, we'll head to the Amador Causeway, a scenic road built with stones excavated during the construction of the Canal. From this point, you'll have spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, the entrance to the Canal, and the city's modern skyline. You'll see the iconic Biomuseo, designed by architect Frank Gehry, and we'll make a brief stop for photos at the famous Panama Sign, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. You'll also visit a duty-free shop to buy tax-free items.
Finally, we'll arrive at the charming Casco Antiguo, the historic district founded after the destruction of Panama Viejo in 1671. During our guided walking tour, you'll discover its most iconic squares and churches, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Church of San José with its famous Golden Altar, Plaza de Francia, and Plaza Bolívar. Its beautiful cobbled streets, colonial architecture, and cultural atmosphere make it one of the most beloved places in Panama.
Our tour ends here, in one of the city's most historic and charming settings.
