Historic St Helier walking tour.｜Jersey

The tour begins in Liberation Square, location of the celebrations on 9th May 1945, when Jersey was liberated from the German Occupying Forces.

From here, your guide will escort you on a journey across town and will take you to the Town Church where you will see the final resting place of Major Francis Peirson and Baron de Rullecourt. Hear the story of The Battle of Jersey and the legend of St Helier who was murdered by Vikings in the 6th century.

From here, cross over into the Royal Square where you will hear stories of bravery and resistance as well as how Jersey's Lillie Langtry defiled the golden statue of King George II.

Continue further into the town and visit the Victorian Market whilst hearing about the Breton farm workers who adopted this cobbled street in St Helier.

Head down King Street, aka Rue de la Derriere, and encounter the famous crapaud perched atop a granite column at Charing Cross.

Your two hour tour will end back in Liberation Square after walking through the recently developed Liberty Wharf.
