Product Info

If you want to understand a city, start with its market. This 2-hour Hangzhou foodie walk takes you into a local wet market — not a tourist attraction, but a place where everyday life happens. Inside, you’ll find everything from fresh river fish and handmade dumplings to dried bamboo shoots, seasonal fruits, and traditional snacks.
Hangzhou cuisine is shaped by water — rivers, lakes, and the nearby coast — so seafood plays a big role. You’ll see ingredients like freshwater crabs, river snails, and even turtles. You’ll also notice how locals prefer lighter, fresher flavors, often using simple seasonings like scallions instead of heavy spices. But this tour isn’t just about looking — it’s about eating.
We’ll start with tofu pudding, trying both sweet and savory versions. It sounds simple, but it’s one of the most debated foods in China. Then we move on to a true Hangzhou classic: noodles. You can choose between eel noodles (rich, savory, very local) or tomato mixed noodles (lighter, slightly sweet and tangy). Along the way, we grab small bites — marinated quail eggs, or local drinks, and seasonal snacks depending on what’s available that day. Finally, we sit down for a bowl of river snails in broth. It’s a signature dish of the Jiangnan region, and we’ll show you how locals actually eat it (yes, there’s a technique).
Beyond food, you’ll also pick up small cultural details — tea habits, market culture, holiday foods, and everyday life in Hangzhou. This isn’t a formal tour. It’s more like exploring the city with a local who knows where to go and what to eat.
Come join us and experience Hangzhou through its food.
