Product Info

A private Bangalore city tour for people who'd rather understand a place than tick it off. Half-day or full-day, hotel pickup, air-conditioned car, and a guide who knows the back stories.

Half-day Bangalore city tour
Duration: 5 hours | Private air-conditioned car
Pickup from Bangalore (hotel/preferred location) We collect you from your hotel, and the day begins the moment the door closes on the traffic

1. Lalbagh Botanical Garden
240 acres laid out by Hyder Ali in 1760 and filled by Tipu with trees from Africa and Persia. At its heart, a granite outcrop three billion years old, passed by joggers every morning, entirely unbothered.

2. Bull Temple
A Nandi from the 1500s, carved from a single boulder, four metres tall and black with centuries of oil. Farmers still bring the first groundnuts of the harvest each November

3. Bangalore Fort
The Delhi Gate and a stretch of wall — a mud fort rebuilt in stone by Hyder Ali, breached by Cornwallis in 1791. Most of the city walks past without looking up

4. KR Market
Built over that battleground, now one of Asia's great flower markets. Marigold and jasmine by the sackful, sold by weight

5. Lunch at MTR
Mavalli Tiffin Rooms, feeding Bangalore since 1924. The rava idli was invented in this kitchen during wartime rationing. Mondays: Andhra banana-leaf at Nagarjuna

6. Vidhana Soudha
Four storeys of Bangalore granite, finished in 1956 in a style invented for the occasion — part temple, part parliament

7. High Court of Karnataka
Attara Kacheri, "eighteen offices" — red-washed and columned, 1868, facing the Vidhana Soudha across Cubbon Park. Two centuries of power, face to face

Full-day Bangalore sightseeing tour
Duration: 8 hours | Private air-conditioned car
Pickup from Bangalore (hotel/preferred location) Morning collection with your guide

1. Lalbagh Botanical Garden
Hyder Ali's garden of 1760, still where Bangalore comes to breathe. The Glass House was raised for the Prince of Wales in 1889

2. Bull Temple
A monolithic Nandi, darkened by four centuries of offerings. Small, dim and genuinely old, in a city that keeps rebuilding itself

3. Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace
Two floors of teak, finished in 1791, every pillar cut rather than cast. Tipu called it Rashk-e-Jannat, the Envy of Heaven

4. Bangalore Fort
The Delhi Gate and its walls, all that survives of the siege of 1791

5. KR Market
Flowers, fruit and noise on the old battleground. Bring a camera, mind your feet

6. Lunch at MTR
Getting it right since 1924. Birthplace of the rava idli. You skip the line with us

7. Vidhana Soudha
The seat of Karnataka's legislature, and the largest granite building in India

8. High Court of Karnataka
The red Attara Kacheri of 1868, beside Cubbon Park. An outside visit

9. Bangalore Palace
Built in 1870s with battlements & turrets, residence of the Wodeyars since. Fifteen minutes and a hundred years from where the day began
