Atami is one of the top geisha districts in Japan. Most geisha belong to "okiya," which is essentially a dispatch agency. Currently, there are about 50 okiya in Atami, with about 100 geisha active there. In 1877, the third generation of geisha from the Hanto region lived in Atami as a traveling geisha of the Higuchi school, providing performances for guests staying at inns. In 1910, to commemorate the contributions of the third generation of geisha, wealthy merchants, dukes, marquises, and other members of high society in the Meiji era erected a life-size monument near the gate of Daijō-ji Temple. The monument no longer exists, but because Daijō-ji Temple is the temple where the progenitor of geisha, the third generation of geisha, was enshrined, a geisha association built "Hasenzaka" there in 1992. Every year on April 20th, geisha hold a ritual to burn their used props (fans, shamisen, koto strings, plectrums, etc.) as an offering, praying for their continued progress in their geisha training. In 1912, Wakasugi Hana, the younger sister of Kiku Yugeisha, a successor to the third generation of Yoshishi, became a Yugeisha under the name "Haru no Ie Hana." At that time, women were not officially recognized as geisha, and those who were not Yugeisha were not allowed to enter or leave inns. The term "geisha" was officially used only after the establishment of the Atami Geisha Guild in 1932. Today, Atami City considers "Atami Geisha" an important part of Atami's traditional culture and actively promotes it both domestically and internationally. Since 1998, Atami has held open geisha viewing sessions (Okiya Guilds) under the name "Hana no Mai" (Flower Dance), allowing tourists to appreciate Atami's traditional performing arts up close.

Kiunkaku is characterized by its beautiful architecture and gardens that blend Japanese, Western, and Chinese styles, and also boasts a history as a ryokan (traditional inn) favored by literary figures such as Osamu Dazai. At that time, Atami was a special place where only a select few, including political and business figures and members of the Imperial Family, could build villas. In the event of force majeure (including natural disasters, war, strikes, government bans, mechanical failures, traffic accidents, and other circumstances beyond the company's control) leading to trip cancellation before departure, the company will provide a full refund of the tour fee before departure. If the trip is interrupted on the departure day or during the trip due to the above reasons, the remaining tour fee will be refunded after deducting actual expenses incurred. No additional compensation claims will be accepted in such cases; any other losses or additional expenses incurred will be borne by the traveler. Return travel time may be delayed due to objective factors such as road conditions and weather on the day of the trip, especially during holidays when traffic congestion is more likely. The company will flexibly adjust the itinerary according to the actual situation, and the return time may be later than expected. If you need to take a night flight or connect to subsequent trips on the day of the trip, it is recommended to allow sufficient time to avoid affecting subsequent arrangements. No refunds or compensation will be provided for itinerary delays. If you are traveling with children, please inform customer service when placing your order. If you do not inform customer service in advance and have not paid the relevant fees, and the bus becomes overloaded due to children on the day of the tour, the tour guide has the right to refuse boarding to the child and accompanying parent in order to comply with local regulations and ensure the safety of all passengers. Children and minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult with full civil capacity. Travelers aged 70 and above are advised to be accompanied by family or friends and must sign a waiver on the day of departure. To ensure your safety and the rights of other group members, if you have a chronic illness, mobility impairment, or other special health conditions, please inform us truthfully at the time of registration so that we can make necessary arrangements and assistance in advance. On the return trip, you may choose to disembark at either Shinjuku or Tokyo Station. If any passengers choose to disembark at Shinjuku, the bus will stop there; if no passengers choose Shinjuku, the bus will bypass it and proceed directly to Tokyo Station. Return times are for reference only; actual arrival times may be earlier due to smooth traffic or delayed due to traffic conditions or other force majeure events. Due to traffic, the itinerary may experience congestion, potentially causing the driver's working hours to exceed the limit. In such cases, to comply with relevant regulations, the tour will conclude at the nearest stop (either Shinjuku or Tokyo Station), and the bus will not proceed to the other location. Walking from the 'Atami Station Shopping Street' to 'Atami Sun Beach' takes approximately 10-15 minutes. The route includes stairs and slopes, making it unsuitable for those with limited mobility. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and being mindful of your footing.
