Product Info

  • A course where you can experience the thrill and excitement of catching coconut crabs♪ The night in Onna Village, Okinawa, is home to many rare creatures unique to the subtropical region, and the coconut crab is the most iconic among them! Coconut crabs are the largest land-dwelling crustaceans, and in Japan, they are said to inhabit only Okinawa, Miyakojima, and the Yaeyama Islands. Because of their name and local legends, they are often imagined as 'crabs that climb palm trees to drop and eat coconuts.' While they look like crabs, they are actually a type of hermit crab. It turns out that coconuts are not necessarily their staple food; while they do eat them, the habit of climbing trees to cut down the fruit has not been confirmed, making that image more of an urban legend. They molt every 3 months to grow little by little. Because they grow very slowly, it is said that it takes a whopping 50 years for them to reach a body length of 40cm! Due to overfishing, their population is declining, making this a truly precious experience.

  • This course starts after sunset, so you can enjoy it comfortably even in the hot Okinawa weather☆ Since it begins during the time when coconut crabs are active, it starts around 19:00 from November to April, and around 20:00 from May to the end of October. Even though it is Okinawa, winter can be chilly, so please dress warmly and take precautions against the cold when joining the tour!

  • What to wear and bring: It's cold in winter, so please bring something to wear over your clothes. Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations 4 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
  • For cancellations made 3 to 3 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 35% will apply
  • For cancellations made 2 to 2 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 70% will apply
  • Cancellation is not allowed between 0–1 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
  • Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
