The Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall is the largest existing ancient guild hall complex in China. Originally built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, it blends Ming and Qing architectural styles characteristic of Huguang (Hubei and Hunan) and Chongqing. It features hundreds of sculptural works, including stone, wood, and brick carvings, as well as exquisite reliefs depicting themes such as *Journey to the West* and *Investiture of the Gods*. The ancient stage within the hall once witnessed performances by masters like Mei Lanfang. Today, visitors can watch the intangible cultural heritage performance *Drunken Chongqing*, experience traditional arts such as Sichuan opera face-changing and Chongqing dance, and feel the boldness and vibrant atmosphere of Chongqing culture. Visitors can also enjoy covered-bowl tea with snacks, immersing themselves in the slow pace of Chongqing life.
The Huguang Guild Hall is a century-old Hui-style ancient building in Chongqing, and it is also the largest Qing Dynasty guild hall complex in China. Hundreds of stone carvings, wood carvings, and brick carvings are arguably the most exquisite and splendid part of the entire guild hall.
Taking the elevator from the Dongshuimen Bridgehead offers a panoramic view of the entire complex, the Chongqing Yangtze River Cableway, and the Twin Towers.
