- Tour Introduction -

  • Songshan Ciyou Temple
Located in the Songshan District of Taipei, Songshan Ciyou Temple was founded in 1753 and is one of Taiwan's most famous Mazu temples. The temple's main deity is Mazu, the Goddess of the Sea, who is revered as the protector of seafarers and shipping. The temple attracts numerous devotees and tourists with its magnificent architectural style and deep historical and cultural significance. During festivals such as Mazu's birthday, it draws large crowds of pilgrims praying for peace, health, and prosperity.

    【Temple Etiquette Tips】
    1. When entering the temple, enter through the 'Dragon Gate' on the right and exit through the 'Tiger Gate' on the left. The central door is reserved for the deities, symbolizing respect.
    2. Please wash your hands before praying. When praying, sincerely state your name, date of birth, address, the specific blessing you are seeking, and how you intend to show your gratitude.
    3. When casting moon blocks (Jiaobei) to seek guidance from the deity, it is generally limited to three attempts. Focus on your question in your mind, then release the blocks. A 'Holy Cup' (one flat side up, one curved side up) indicates the deity's approval. A 'Laughing Cup' (both flat sides up) suggests the deity has not yet decided, while a 'Negative Cup' (both curved sides up) indicates the deity does not approve.

  • Raohe Night Market
Raohe Street Night Market spans approximately 600 meters. With brightly lit archways at the entrances near Fuyuan Street and Songshan Railway Station, the market is a vibrant destination. A major feature of Raohe Street Night Market is its orderly layout and wide variety of offerings, including oyster vermicelli, beef offal noodles, shaved ice, and much more. Beyond street food, you can find affordable daily goods such as clothing and footwear, as well as folk art performances and local product stalls.

  • Bird Divination
The famous bird divination at Raohe Night Market — Xuanyuan Pavilion Divination — is now in its fourth generation. It has even provided readings for celebrities like Takeshi Kaneshiro, Ken Shimura, and Naomi Watanabe. For bird divination, you may choose one topic to inquire about: 'Marriage, Career, Academics, Relationships, Work, Exam Luck, Investments, Wealth, Interpersonal Relationships, Partnerships, Health, Legal Issues, or Names.' Once you have decided on your question, the master will have the Java sparrow select three bamboo sticks and then interpret the results for you.
