Gangneung Myeongju-dong Street (강릉 명주동 거리)

Myeongju-dong has been an administrative and cultural center since the Goryeo Dynasty and was once a bustling area of Gangneung. It preserves old alleys and houses built in the 1900s. You can stroll through the alleys to experience unique cafes, cultural spaces, and history. You can also rent vintage clothing here to feel as if you have traveled back in time~

Ojukheon: The Birthplace of the Figures on the 5,000 and 50,000 Won Notes (오죽헌)

Ojukheon is the birthplace of Yulgok Yi I (featured on the 5,000 won note) and his mother, Shin Saimdang (featured on the 50,000 won note). Built between 1450 and 1500 during the early Joseon Dynasty, it was named after the dark bamboo that grows around the house. The dark bamboo, as a symbol of Ojukheon, appears alongside the building on the 5,000 won note. At Ojukheon, you can see the detached quarters where Yulgok was born, the inner quarters, and the items he used, as well as learn about the story of Yulgok and his mother, Shin Saimdang. This is also a major filming location for the K-drama 'Saimdang, Memoir of Colors'.

Woljeongsa Temple and Fir Tree Forest: Filming Location of 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God' (월정사 도깨비 촬영지)

The fir tree forest path at Odaesan Woljeongsa Temple is about 1 kilometer long. The entire forest contains over 1,700 towering fir trees. This path is a representative landmark of the thousand-year-old Woljeongsa Temple. The forest path, which exudes the scent of phytoncides and relaxes the mind and body, is beautiful at any time, but it is especially romantic in winter when white snow covers the green fir trees.
