Shuiduguanxi

The Xiuguluan River basin spans eight townships in Taitung County (Hai Rui, Chi Shang) and Hualien County (Fu Li, Zhuo Xi, Yu Li, Rui Sui, Wan Rong, Feng Bin), making it an important water system in the East Rift Valley plain.

The pronunciation of Xiuguluan River is xiù gū luán xī. This river is located in Taiwan's East Rift Valley, with a total length of about 77 kilometers, and is famous for its rafting activities.

Xiuguluan River is suitable for rafting year-round, with the approximately 24-kilometer section taking 3 to 4 hours to complete. The period from May to October is the flood season and the peak season for rafting. General launch times are from 7 AM to 12 PM; afternoons are less common, and launching is prohibited after 3 PM.

By car, take National Freeway No. 5 to Su'ao Interchange, follow Provincial Highway 9, turn into Zhongshan Road Section 1, and then connect to County Highway 193. For public transportation, it is recommended to take the Taiwan Railways to Rui Sui Station, then transfer to Hualien Bus 1135 (towards Yu Li) and alight at the Rafting Visitor Center Station.

The Xiuguluan River basin covers an area of 1,790.46 square kilometers and is one of Taiwan's 25 centrally managed rivers. Its main stream is approximately 81.15 kilometers long, making it one of the three major water systems in the East Rift Valley plain.
