Morning:
Meet and depart from the harbor of Sanary-sur-Mer
Schedule of the day:
On board the vessel Croix du Sud V, embark on an experience that is often thought to be reserved for exotic destinations: watching cetaceans in the Mediterranean. Our success rate of nearly 99% over more than 20 years of experience reflects the richness of the area we explore!
It is around the large marine trenches, on the edge of the Pelagos Sanctuary, that you can observe the striped dolphin, the bottlenose dolphin, Risso's dolphin, the pilot whale, the sperm whale, and finally, the second largest animal on the planet: the fin whale, the only resident whale in the Mediterranean.
Accompanied by naturalists and photographers from Découverte du Vivant, we will offer you a lecture on board, as well as talks over the microphone, covering basic biology about all the species encountered during the outing.
As holders of the High Quality Whale Watching label, our observations are carried out in strict compliance with a code of good conduct, guaranteeing the sustainable and respectful observation of cetaceans.
During this excursion, you will have the opportunity to observe other representatives of marine fauna: seabirds, sunfish, loggerhead turtles, bluefin tuna, swordfish, rays, and more.
For each trip, a photographic report is provided by the naturalists and photographers of Découverte du Vivant.
Afternoon: Drop-off at the harbor of Sanary-sur-Mer
Practical information: the boat is equipped with toilets, a bar, 3 outside decks, and a roofed area.
(We do not recommend this excursion for children under 4 years of age, as it is a 6- to 7-hour outing, which may seem very long for the little ones)
