Visit Hanauma Bay with an early morning snorkeling experience designed to help you make the most of one of Oahu’s best known natural sites. Travel from Waikiki by shuttle and arrive at the park close to opening time, when conditions are often calmer, the water is clearer, and the bay is less crowded. With its protected waters, coral reef, and large variety of tropical fish, Hanauma Bay is a memorable spot for both first time and experienced snorkelers.

After departing Waikiki in the early morning, head to the bay in about 30 minutes. Once there, get ready with your included snorkeling equipment, including a standard mask, snorkel, and fins. Before entering the water, receive expert instruction to help you feel comfortable using the gear and enjoying the bay safely. All visitors are also required by Hanauma Bay State Park to watch a 10 minute video about safety and conservation.

Then spend your time exploring the bay’s calm, clear waters and coral reef habitat. Look out for vibrant tropical fish, including species native to Hawaii, as you snorkel in a protected Marine Life Conservation Area. You may also bring your own snorkeling set if you prefer.
