ข้อมูลสินค้า

Begin your journey at Canada Place, one of Vancouver’s most recognizable landmarks. The iconic white sails of Canada Place symbolize Vancouver’s connection to the Pacific Ocean and its role as Canada’s gateway to Asia. Standing here, see Burrard Inlet, Vancouver Harbour, and the North Shore Mountains.

From Canada Place, walk to Waterfront Station, a historic transportation hub completed in 1914. The arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1887 transformed Vancouver from a small settlement into a major city. The railway connected Vancouver with Eastern Canada and encouraged immigration from around the world. Thousands of people arrived seeking new opportunities, contributing to the city’s growth and diversity.

Next, head to Gastown, the birthplace of Vancouver. This historic neighborhood dates back to 1867 when a talkative sailor and saloon owner known as “Gassy Jack” Deighton established a tavern near Hastings Mill. Workers and settlers soon gathered around the area, creating the first permanent settlement. Gastown is famous for its Victorian architecture, cobblestone streets, heritage buildings, and the Steam Clock, one of the city’s most photographed attractions.

Continue east to Chinatown, one of the oldest and largest historic Chinatowns in North America. Chinese immigrants first arrived in British Columbia during the Fraser River Gold Rush in the 1850s and later played a crucial role in constructing the Canadian Pacific Railway. Despite facing discrimination, including the Chinese Head Tax and exclusionary immigration policies, the Chinese community established successful businesses, cultural institutions, and social organizations that helped shape Vancouver’s identity.

A short walk brings you to Victory Square, one of Vancouver’s oldest public spaces. The square is home to the Cenotaph, a war memorial honoring Canadian soldiers who served in various conflicts, including the First and Second World Wars. This site provides an opportunity to discuss Vancouver’s role in national and international events and how immigrants from many backgrounds contributed to Canada’s military efforts.

Then, continue to Library Square and the Vancouver Public Library. The library’s unique design, inspired by the Roman Colosseum, reflects Vancouver’s commitment to education, knowledge, and community engagement. The surrounding area showcases the city’s transformation into a modern urban center known for technology, film production, environmental sustainability, and innovation.

As you walk toward Robson Street, experience one of the best examples of Vancouver’s multicultural character. Vancouver is often described as a city of neighborhoods, each influenced by different cultures and immigrant communities. Along Robson Street and throughout downtown, find restaurants, shops, and businesses representing cultures from China, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Iran, Europe, Latin America, and many other parts of the world.
