Begin your day by meeting your guide at one of our meeting points. After a short drive to the starting point, your snowshoe adventure begins. Your guide will provide snowshoes and poles and explain the basics so you feel comfortable from the start. No previous experience is needed, and the pace is always adapted to the group.
From the first steps, you quickly enter the quiet landscapes of Lapland. We walk through snow-covered pine and birch forests, far from the crowds, where the only sound is the crunch of snow under your feet. Along the way, your guide shares stories about Arctic wildlife, local life in winter, and traditional Lapland culture. Fresh animal tracks in the snow often appear, bringing the wilderness to life.
Halfway through the tour, we stop at a traditional forest kota, a warm wooden shelter in the heart of nature. We light a fire, grill local sausages, and enjoy hot drinks. It’s a relaxed moment to warm up, rest, and experience Lapland in an authentic way.
We then continue the ascent toward Kesänki Fell summit (weather permitting). The climb is gentle and steady, and the landscape gradually opens up to panoramic views over the Ylläs region and frozen lakes. Along the way, you may see “tykky trees” – snow-covered trees shaped by Arctic winter conditions, a unique feature of Lapland.
The descent is often the highlight of the experience. We leave the main trails and move through soft, untouched snow between the trees. This section feels playful and immersive, giving a strong sense of connection with the landscape. Step by step, you create your own path through the silent forest.
By the end of the tour, you don’t just leave with photos, but with a real feeling of Lapland: silence, space, and a deep connection to Arctic nature.
