A full-day photographic pilgrimage among birds, flora and living Kawésqar memory.
The tour starts in Puerto Natales, where we will pick you up in the morning from your accommodation. In a private vehicle, we'll drive 75 km south, passing through vast forests of lengas, coihues, ñires, and cypresses until we reach the small community of Seno Obstrucción.
Along the way, the immense and ancient forest mixes with open plains and rocky outcrops. The must-see stops are the vantage points of Lakes Balmaceda and Pinto, where the sky fills with birds: black-chested eagles, condors, caiquenes, bandurrias, black woodpeckers, pitíos, and carpinteritos.
After a little over 90 minutes on the route, we reach Seno Obstrucción, a coastal fjord surrounded by lenga forests, peat bogs, and dark stone beaches, considered "the end of the road" due to its isolation and pristine nature.
There, members of the Kawésqar people welcome us and accompany us along a coastal path. They guide us through an almost untouched land, sharing stories, signs, and the behaviors of the birds of the territory. The experience lives up to its name: it's not an exhibition, but a respectful encounter.
At midday, coffee, tea, or the traditional mate brings us together by the warmth of a campfire. We share stories and photographs before continuing into the forest, where we discover mushrooms, lichens, and ferns, and continue looking for birds in the forest.
At the end of the day, we return to Puerto Natales with magical photographs of animals, flora, and unique landscapes, and with the living memory of a unique encounter with nature and the Kawésqar culture.
