We will leave your accommodation in Puerto Natales for Villa Cerro Castillo, the capital of the Torres del Paine commune, 59 kilometers north. The journey to this point takes approximately 45 minutes, which is the ideal time to converse and take in the diversity of landscapes with an abundance of Magellanic forest, glacier-fed valleys, mountain ranges, and lakes along the route. Weather permitting, we may spot condors in one of the many nesting areas along the route.
The itinerary continues towards the Sarmiento Lake vantage point, the first photo stop with a view of the Paine Mountain Range. From here, and in good weather conditions, it will be possible to have a first panoramic view of the entire Torres del Paine mountain range, the southern extension of the Andes Mountains, and the imposing Sarmiento Lake. After this break, we'll head to a very important site with one of the most striking views in front of the granite towers. The place described above is the Laguna Amarga vantage point, a favorite habitat of flamingos, which frequently find ideal conditions for feeding here.
The route continues to the main entrance of Torres del Paine National Park, where we will register our admission tickets to continue with the itinerary. The next vantage points to visit will be Lake Nordenskjöld, Salto Grande Viewpoint, Pehoé Viewpoint, Weber Bridge, Rio Paine, and Lake Grey. At this last point, we'll have time for lunch (not included in the price) and to walk around the area if weather conditions allow.
We'll return to the vehicle to continue the tour, leaving Torres del Paine National Park through the southern section.
Our last stop in front of Torres del Paine will be at the most impressive spot on the Y-290 route,
called the Grey Vantage Point. From here, it will be possible to see the group of mountains that dominate the western part of the province, the immense Toro Lake, and, if the weather permits, also a section of the Grey Glacier.
After a 1-hour journey, we will reach the highlight of the day: a visit to the Mylodon Cave Natural Monument. This protected area is the second most visited in the Magallanes region after Torres del Paine National Park. Our tour guide will provide all the information about this site of great historical relevance due to the constant archaeological and paleontological research that has been carried out there.
At the end of the visit, we begin the return to Puerto Natales, ending the day with the satisfaction of having had a unique experience in this corner of the world.
