Some nights are made for adventure — this is one of them. Head out into the Arctic dark from Alta, one of the best places on Earth to catch the northern lights, as your guide dynamically tracks live weather and sky conditions, adjusting on the fly to chase down the best possible viewing spot for the night. No fixed route, no waiting around — just following the sky wherever it leads.
When the moment's right, we stop, gather around a crackling campfire, and settle in — roast marshmallows, enjoy snacks, and warm up with a hot chocolate if you've got a sweet tooth, or tea or coffee if you'd rather keep it classic. Just relax, watch the sky and have fun!
Curious about what's actually happening up there? Your guide holds a Master of Science and loves explaining the real physics behind the lights — solar wind, the KP-index, why some nights glow green and others flash rare reds and purples.
With two guides on hand throughout the evening, there's no rush and no waiting in line — plenty of time for everyone to get their photo taken and simply enjoy the moment. Every guest goes home with free professional photos under the northern lights, included in the price, sharp and beautifully captured — a real memory of the night, exactly as you were there.
A night of fire, snacks, science, and the sky doing something unforgettable. That's the whole idea.
Please note: The tour lasts a maximum of 6 hours and its exact length and route depend strongly on weather and aurora activity, since our priority is always giving you the best possible chance of a best show. If you have a fixed time you need to be back by for any reason — for example a cruise ship departure — just let us know in advance. Our tours are designed with this flexibility in mind, and we'll make sure you get back in time, so there's no need to worry about it.
