I am Gorm Winther, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus in the social sciences and Arctic economics. My academic career has taken me from Aalborg to the United States, where I worked and conducted research at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and to Greenland, where I lived and worked for seven years. Yet Aalborg has always been my home.

Born and raised in Aalborg, I have spent most of my life here and know the city inside out. Beyond its streets and landmarks, I know the stories that have shaped it—from its Viking origins and medieval heritage to its remarkable transformation into one of Denmark's most dynamic modern cities.

Whether you are interested in Aalborg's fascinating history, hidden gems, local culture, architecture, or political and civic development, I offer an insider's perspective grounded in both scholarly knowledge and lifelong personal experience. My goal is to bring the city to life with engaging stories, historical insight, and a deep understanding of what makes Aalborg unique.
