Learn about the history and philosophy that have driven our family for generations. Your tour begins in the park, with a privileged view of the vineyards of Lalande de Pomerol, Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Montagne Saint-Emilion, and the Fronsac hill. The tour continues in the Chateau's reception room, before moving on to the barrel room.
It ends with a tasting of four wines from the Lalande de Pomerol and Saint-Emilion appellations. The experience is free for those under 18 years old.
Since the 15th century, the Chatonnet family has been developing a vision of wine based on respect for the terroir, detailed knowledge of the micro-plots, and a balance between tradition and innovation. While its historical roots are in Saint-Émilion, a new chapter began in 1967 when André and Jeanine Chatonnet revived a forgotten estate in Lalande‑de‑Pomerol. Today, Pascal Chatonnet, also recognized for his scientific work and his activity as an international consultant, and his daughter Clarisse continue this adventure with passion.
Their commitment is reflected in precision viticulture and the implementation of the Agro-synergy model, which aims to preserve agricultural common sense, maintain a virtuous ecosystem, and guarantee the quality of the wines. On 30 hectares divided into three appellations (Lalande‑de‑Pomerol, Saint‑Émilion, and Montagne‑Saint‑Émilion), they produce cuvées with a clear identity that is faithful to their origin: Château La Croix Chaigneau, Château Haut‑Chaigneau, La Sergue, L'Archange, Le Claret de Haut‑Chaigneau, and Esprit d'Aliénor.
Each wine is designed to be enjoyed at the perfect moment: the vintages are patiently aged in the bottle, sometimes for up to ten years, in order to be offered when they reach their full expression. This requirement guarantees sincere, consistent wines, deeply rooted in their terroir and always ready to be shared.
